GEODESIC DESIGN
The geodesic shape is one of the strongest designs of any structure, allowing these greenhouses to support large snowloads, and resist wind speeds over 180km/hr.
Growing Domes have 40% less surface area than traditional, rectangular greenhouses, helping retain heat even on cold winter nights with better energy efficiency than conventional designs.
DOME FOUNDATION
FOUNDATION WALL
Each dome sits on a 24” all-weather foundation wall made of wood composite siding, insulated with R-10 insulation, and lined with galvanized metal flashing. It can be primed and custom-painted for a unique, one-of-a-kind look.
The foundational wall is anchored to one of three foundation options: gravel ring, concrete pier, or insulated concrete forms (ICF).

ABOVE GROUND POND
The Growing Dome design includes an above-ground pond located on the inside at the North-facing wall, directly under the Reflective Insulation. This feature helps create an optimal environment in the greenhouse for year-round growth, keeping the Growing Dome warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Each pond is appropriately sized for every Growing Dome; it is an oval shape in the 15′ – 26′ Growing Domes and round in the 33′ – 42′ Growing Domes.
REFLECTIVE INSULATION
The North wall insulation covers about 1/3 of the polycarbonate glazing panels on the inside of the Growing Dome® all year long. The insulation reflects light and radiant energy away from the greenhouse, which provides shade for the Above Ground Pond in the summer, keeping the greenhouse cool. In the winter months, the insulation reflects the light and radiant energy from the sun towards the above-ground pond, keeping the water in the pond and the ambient air temperature in the greenhouse warm.
INTAKE & EXHAUST FANS
The intake and exhaust fans provide the Growing Dome with the proper air circulation for warm and sunny days.
All Growing Dome Kits now come standard with the previous Solar Upgrade.
Each fan comes with a 40W/21V polycrystalline solar panel, as well as an AC/DC power adaptor, allowing for a hybrid system that can run even without sunlight.
UNDERSOIL HEATING/COOLING
UNDERSOIL UNIT
The Undersoil Ventilation System (UVS) utilizes the consistent temperature of the soil, taps into the thermal mass, stores, and releases that thermal energy into the dome.
SOLAR POWERED FAN SYSTEM
An open-loop system circulates air with two fans at 75 CFM (cubic feet per minute) powered by an external solar panel.
ALUMINET SHADE CLOTH
The aluminet shade cloth reduces the amount of sunlight and heat transmitted into the greenhouse. Most Growing Dome owners put it up between April – June and take it down between September – October. The shade cloth reduces the amount of summer sun rays by 50% without depriving the plants of too much light.
SNOWSHED ENTRYWAY
DOORWAY
The snowshed design redirects snow and rain away from the front of the greenhouse door.
